Steel Rule Laser Welding Machine for Die-making Industry Model: AL-1500A AL-2000A
As the latest type of equipment developed and applied specifically for steel rules (blade) welding in the die-making industry, our steel rule laser welding machine has the following features and advantages:
- Laser welding energy is highly concentrated and does not cause thermal effects on the steel rule body and cutting edge, thereby preventing embrittlement and extending the service life of the dies.
- Laser welding can adjust the size of the weld seam by adjusting the focal point. The smaller the weld seam, the smaller the heat-affected zone. Furthermore, the smaller the weld seam, the more seamless the joint can be achieved.
- Laser welder can control the laser output power through a welding control system. This makes it particularly suitable for a wide range of steel rule types, including 1pt, 2pt, 3pt, and 4pt blades of all thicknesses, and steel rule height also no limit.
- We also have special fixtures for holding steel rule. And the fixture structure is a suspended design, which allows the welding torch for smooth welding of the steel rules after they are held in place.

Core Component Fiber Laser Source
The wavelength of fiber lasers is generally 1064±5nm. This wavelength is commonly used for laser cutting or welding metal materials because metals have a very high absorption rate for laser waves in this wavelength range.
The steel rule materials used for cutting dies are generally high-carbon steel, tungsten steel, titanium alloy steel, etc. These materials are very suitable welded by fiber laser welders, as the weld penetration is sufficient and the joints are strong after welding.
5-Axis Laser Welding System
This steel rule laser welding machine uses a five-axis laser welding system. The laser head can rotate and move at any angle. So this make the machine not only can weld steel rule seams on flat surfaces, but also weld the bent parts of die blades after the blades have been installed.
In addition, our welding system is equipped with a microscope-style magnifying glass and screen observation system, avoiding the need to view the weld seams directly with the naked eye and preventing damage to the operator’s healthy.

Double Continuous Welding and Spot Welding Mode
The welding machine uses an advanced automated laser welding system that not only allows you to freely set the laser power you need, but also optimizes the welding path according to the graphic or specific settings.
In addition, the machine control system can also achieve two modes of welding modes. Continuous welding and spot welding, allowing you to freely choose the mode you need for different welding scenes.

The advantages of fiber laser welding in die steel rules welding applications
- Minimal heat-affected zone, preserving the original hardness of the steel rules’ cutting edge. Traditional welding methods such as TIG and MIG generate significant heat during welding, which can cause the entire steel rule to heat up and even affect the cutting edge, leading to annealing and brittleness of the cutting edge. This is particularly problematic for high-hardness steel rules (such as those made of hard alloy or high-carbon steel with a hardness of HRC 55 or higher), as it reduces the cutting life of the dies. Laser welding eliminates this issue because the high-energy-density laser beam, when focused, has a width as low as 0.1 mm, resulting in minimal heat diffusion around the weld. After welding at the cutting edge, the instantaneous temperature does not exceed 50°C, virtually eliminating thermal annealing of the steel rule. The steel rule’s original hardness is fully retained, significantly extending the die-cutting life.
- Ultra-high precision welds with no consumables. After focusing and energy control, the laser beam can achieve a minimum weld width of 0.05 mm. If your steel rule is thin like 1pt,2pt,you can reduce the laser power and decrease the weld spot size, which will further improve welding precision. Laser welding works by using a high-energy laser beam to melt the surrounding material at high temperatures, forming a high-temperature molten pool, and then welding process done. No filler material is needed for steel rule welding.
- The welded seams are strong enough, and the machine operates with a high degree of automation. This machine uses a CNC control system to control the welding head path, allowing you to set any required welding length and range. It achieves precise welding positioning and avoids heat affect on the steel rule cutting edge position.
The laser power ranges from 1500W to 2000W, with high laser beam energy capable of achieving sufficient penetration depth in an instant. Testing has shown that the welded joints show sufficient strength after welding, with no issues such as weld seam cracking or peeling.
